Overview

A first-of-its-kind platform for a sacred journey

UmrahHub is the official planning, booking, and experience platform for Umrah — the Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah and Madinah. The platform serves two distinct user groups: hajjis (pilgrims) looking to plan their spiritual journey, and licensed service providers who offer packages, flights, and tourism experiences. The design challenge was to create a dignified, trustworthy digital experience that reflects the spiritual significance of Umrah while being functionally simple enough for a global, multilingual audience — many of whom may not be digitally native.

Challenges

Designing for a unique audience context
  • Serving a global audience across dozens of countries and languages with very different digital literacy levels, all on a single platform.
  • Balancing government regulatory requirements (licensing, visa eligibility, service contracts) with a consumer-grade booking experience.
  • Making bilingual Arabic/English work seamlessly across a wide 1440px layout without compromising reading hierarchy in either language.
  • Distinguishing “available now” services (Umrah permit, tourist attractions) from “coming soon” ones (flight reservation) without undermining trust.
  • The platform also serves service providers in a B2B capacity — designing a homepage that speaks to both pilgrims and business operators.
